Dong Qichang (style name Xuanzai), a native of Huating, was a… 更多 Presented Scholar of 1588 and served up to Minister of Rites, being posthumously named Wenmin. Devoting much of his life to painting, calligraphy, and connoisseurship, he was an influential late Ming artist and critic. Dong Qichang’s running script mainly benefited from his study of Wang Xizhi’s (303-361) calligraphy in the Orchid Pavilion and Sacred Teaching prefaces. He also often enjoyed copying from various calligraphers. This work is a 7-character poem, the brushwork rendered with ink tones ranging from light to dark, much in the manner of Wang Xizhi’s calligraphy for a spirited style turning with freedom and ease. Dong gives a cyclical date wuchen, corresponding to 1628. |

(4) Perhaps because she is nude, this version was not shown… 更多 widely almost as though it were censored. But did Leonardo make the drawing? Did he create a simple sketch or a cartoon as a prototype? A finished painting or a sketched out painting that was then finished with the help of one of his followers? In this last instance, would the finished version be a known work or one that has not yet been identified? For example, the Nude Gioconda in the Hermitage in St. Petersburg or the Nude Gioconda in the McKenzie private collection or the Museo Ideale’s recently identified version? The most immediate hypothesis is that Gian Giacomo Caprotti, known as Salaì (1480-1523) painted it. Salai, Leonardo’s favorite pupil, would have, naturally, finished a composition by the master. |

Of all the vases and utensils that Qianlong collected, we chose… 更多 "Vase with decoration of floral pattern and landscape in yangcai painted enamels" as the reference of our interactive equipment. The mountains and waters on the vases match the title of this area. The interactive equipment that combines costume and color detection reflects visitors’ colors, dress-up styles and patterns on the vase after digital extract process and shows visitors’ unique, personal, classic and yet modern collage aesthetic. Everyone has his own fashion taste and this interactive process shows the differences among people and furthermore creates personal artworks. |

This “wucai” (“five-color”) porcelain bowl with immortals shows… 更多 an aspiration for longevity. One set of motifs features Pengzu, who lived for many years, while another scene is probably related to seeking the elixir of immortality. The mouth rim is decorated with a ring of winding spirit fungi, while the inner rim of the bowl is painted with eight branches of pine, bamboo, and plum blossoms, and at the center is a prancing dragon. The underside of the vessel is written in underglaze blue with six characters for “Made in Wanli Reign, Great Ming” inside a double outline frame. |

Leonardo the Sculptor Leonardo is often praised as a… 更多 sculptor, yet to this day no work exists that we could say was executed by him with certainty. The artist was as famous for The Last Supper in Santa Maria delle Grazie in Milan as he was for his sculpture of The Sforza Horse, which is now lost. While excellent sketches exist of equestrian monuments drawn by him, the master cannot even safely be credited with The Budapest Horse. It is likely that - as it was later the case with his nephew Pierino da Vinci - Leonardo first began his career at a very young age in the artistic ceramics workshop of his family. On the side of his paternal grandmother, his ancestors had been running this workshop in the town of Bacchereto (near Vinci), while his stepfather was a “kilnman” in a workshop that later passed into the hands of his father Ser Piero da Vinci and of Francesco, Leonardo’s favorite uncle. The artist himself wrote that he had engaged “in sculpture no less than in painting, practicing both arts to the same degree” (Treatise on Painting, § 34). |

The copy retains the adorable look from the original relic and reveals Qianlong’s experimentation with choosing different materials. This interactive equipment uses gesture recognition techniques to play with the Bears’ materials and elements in the videos.
