108年6月13日於Hormuz海峽發生兩艘油輪(Front Altair 及Kokuka… 更多 Courageous)遭襲擊，船旗國及保險公司建議航行於Hormuz海峽之船隻應積極強化自身航行安全，依據挪威船東相互戰爭風險保險協會的情報評估，在波斯灣、Hormuz海峽和阿曼西北灣作業的油輪面臨極高的風險，建議船舶在進入該地區之前應謹慎因應，並遠離伊朗領水。
有關本次油輪受襲擊的確切原因仍不得而知,美國指責伊朗,並公佈了一段影片，並稱影片顯示一艘伊朗巡邏艇從Kokuka Courageous油輪上拆除了一枚未爆炸的地雷。
這些襲擊受到航運業組織的廣泛譴責,將造成世界主要水道之一的Hormuz海峽產生貿易中斷的隱憂。
