清朝的院本十二月令圖，在描繪一年十二個月中民間生活情形。可能是按各地鄉風，融會入畫，這一幅畫的是農曆正月。正月十五的元宵夜景，屋中盛張燈彩，室外放著煙火。有的人卻在賞月飲酒，後園結架懸掛著彩燈，許多小孩們在燈架下遊戲。上半幅山野之間點綴著提燈的遠景。
The "Occupations or the Twelve Months",although not signed,can be attributed on the basis of the brush-work to T'ang Tai,Ting Kuan-p'eng ,and other painters of the Ch'ien-lung court (1736-1796). The set of paintings depicts the activities peculiar to each month;they follow no fixed program.
The 1st Month The Yuan-hsiao festival falls on the 15th of the month. Here we see the interior of a house aglow with lights. Outside people stroll about,light lanterns,enjoy the reflected image of the moon,drink,or t-ake in the sights of the city. One large exotic lantern is suspended from tall scaffolding in the rear courtyard; crowds of children play beneath it beating drums and preforming mock theatricals. Beyond,more lanterns recede into the distance.
