策展人的話：
早在成書於宣和二年(1120)的《宣和畫譜》中，龍魚即已被視為單獨的一門畫科。
本幅以水面植物和水底藻荇，暗示所畫為水中景象。由上而下按大中小順序畫魚三條，先以淡墨鉤畫輪廓，再逐次漸層漬染魚鱗、魚鰭。位於上方最大的鱖魚除以筆墨表現其體表特徵紋樣以外，魚體上半部還以粗布壓印布紋，使鱖魚身上的細密鱗紋，顯得更加生動逼真。水藻描繪工整，富有裝飾性趣昧。
