文物賞析：
瓦當中「瓦」字指圓弧的陶片，用以覆蓋屋頂，「當」字則為底的意思。瓦當最早出現於西周，有圓和半圓兩種形式，是古代建築的基本元件。位於屋瓦的先端，用來擋住上方的瓦不下滑，遮住兩行間的綘隙，保護簷頭，便於屋頂漏水。不但實用，也有裝飾建築的效果，除素面外，另飾以圖案、動物紋和文字等紋飾。本件為葉公超先生捐贈，以漢代用於印章的繆篆書體刻「永受嘉福」銘文，寓意吉祥。。
