畫中樹石矮屋，穿插掩映，前景右側，枯樹斜擎而上，中景巨石旁的茅屋中，兩人對坐，當是作者與訪客「西洲」，惜身分不可考。
畫中枯樹、細枝及稯葉，出現顫筆，然布景剪裁，仍覺精警動人。畫上行書題跋，用筆爽利勁拔的風神，為唐寅成熟期的書風。依其中識語「醉舞狂歌五十年」，成畫時間的下限，可訂在唐寅五十歲時，即1519年。題詩中的「不損胸前一片天」，唐寅率真不羈的性情一表無遺。

In this thatched cottage by a large rock are two figures seated facing each other. One represents the artist and the other is "Xizhou," the identity of whom remains unknown.
