　　Decoration on short swords in northern China mostly was on the hilt and pommel areas. The hilt decoration often included link, turning, cord, snake, dragon, and bird designs, while the pommel often was in the form of a beast or ring. This short sword is a weapon clearly revealing characteristics of the north. The casting is fine and the style original.
