本幅為林宗毅先生捐贈。金箋扇面畫碧桃花盛開，白燕迎風振羽而飛。粉白嫣紅，率意點染，而物態優雅，賦色尤令人覺三春寒意，鳥語花香，盎然紙上。畫成於光緒五年(1879)，時四十歲。
任頤(1840-1895)，浙江山陰人。字小樓，後改字伯年。畫初從父親鶴聲學，後又得任熊、任薰指授。人物、花鳥俱佳，賦色鮮麗，形象活潑；并以長期鬻畫上海，為時人譽為海上派班頭。

Ren Yi (style name Xiaolou, later changed to Bonian), a native… 更多 of Shanyin in Zhejiang, began learning to paint from his father, Ren Hesheng, and later received instruction from Ren Xiong and Ren Xun. He excelled at painting figural and bird-and-flower subjects with lush colors and lively forms. He resided for a long time in Shanghai selling paintings and became praised by contemporaries as leader of the Shanghai School.
In this painting donated to the National Palace Museum by Mr. Lin Tsung-i, the gold-sprinkled surface of the fan depicts peach branches in full bloom with a white swallow beating its wings against the breeze. The powdery white and pastel pink colors were applied in a straightforward and sketchy manner, the forms elegant and the colors giving the impression of a chilly touch in early spring. The chirping of the bird and fragrance of the blossoms emanate from the painting, which was done by Ren Yi in 1879 at the age of 40 by Chinese reckoning.
