策展人的話:
  陸深(1477-1544),字子淵,號儼山,華亭(今上海松江)人。年二十九進士及第,官至禮部侍郎,諡文裕。此卷取灑金宣紙寫於北上舟行途中,時年陸深僅三十四歲。字體的用筆和分間布白都很講究。字間、行間寬綽,或許與日後董其昌的書風發展有關。嘗自言「吾與吳興(趙孟頫)同師北海,海內人以吾為取法於趙。是意不安於趙也,究論其風力,實出趙上。」自負可見。

    Lu Shen (style name Ziyuan, sobriquet Yanshan), a native of… 更多 Huating (modern Songjiang, Shanghai) became a Presented Scholar at 29 and later Attendant Gentleman of Rites. He was post-humously named Wenyu. This handscroll was done on gold-flecked Xuan paper during a boat trip to the north when Lu was 34. The brushwork and stroke spacing are meticulous. The character and line spacing are also expansive, being perhaps related to the style developed later by Dong Qichang. Lu once wrote, “Both Wuxing (Zhao Mengfu) and I follow Beihai (Li Yong), but people think I follow Zhao’s methods. I feel sorry for Zhao, because in examining the stylistic force, mine actually surpasses his.” It shows just how highly Lu Shen thought of his own calligraphy.
