昨天提到乾隆皇帝第二次南巡時詣訪杭州聖因寺，曾將寺中所藏唐貫休(823-912)十六羅漢像的序位及名號詳加考訂後送還，並於送還前命丁觀鵬摹繪一組，今天所呈現的是「第十六阿必達尊者」。
乾隆皇帝對羅漢尊名、音譯，以及究竟是「十六羅漢」或是「十八羅漢」十分關心。一直到晚年，乾隆皇帝依然持續對羅漢尊名、發音進行修訂。不過因為聖因寺羅漢形像與相關御製題贊，廣被於宮中各類文物之上，難以逐一繕改，因此這組丁觀鵬十六羅漢軸的羅漢尊名仍保存著乾隆皇帝較早的定名意見。

On his second southern inspection tour, the Qianlong emperor… 更多 paid a visit to Shengyin Temple in Hangzhou, studying the order and names of sixteen lohans in paintings by the Tang artist Guanxiu (823-912) in its collection and then returning them. He also ordered the court artist Ding Guanpeng to do a copy of the set, with two of the scrolls having been selected for this exhibit. This set of figures was not only often painted at the time, images of lohans (Buddhist worthies) were also carved in jade, becoming a new visual product of Qianlong’s experiences on his southern tours.
