此卷抄錄曹植古詩四首，寫於「冬日烈風」，然祝允明對自己的表現卻很滿意，認為可追摹一千五百年前的「草聖」張芝。通篇用筆俐落，鋒勢勁銳，輕重徐急變化大，結體攲正疏密，化線為點，以簡馭繁，加上筆勢的縱橫使轉，大大強化了畫面的變化性與節奏感。全卷率意自然，不加修飾，狂放的外觀下卻有著嚴謹的法度與高度的掌控，憑藉著收放自如的書寫技巧與豐富的書學修為，此作確實達到了神融筆暢的書寫境界。
The entire handscroll is direct and natural in manner without embellishment, the wild and liberated appearance still revealing exacting methods of calligraphy and a high level of control. By relying on skill in writing with liberated freedom and rich cultivation in calligraphy, this work truly reaches a realm of calligraphy in which brush and spirit come together.
