原文：「把勒亞身長數十丈，首有二大孔，噴水上出，勢若懸河，遇海船則昂首注水船中，頃刻水滿，舶沉，遇者盛酒鉅木甖投之，連吞數甖，俛首而逝。淺處得之，熬油可數千斤。」
The Great Universal Map (Kunyu Quantu) which Father Ferdinand Verbiest drew for the Kangxi Emperor. What dose the map say about ‘Whale’?
“This sea creature is incredibly large, with two spouts for shooting water from its head. The volume of water that it shoots out is as great as a flowing river. It can shoot out large enough amounts of water to drown a ship. If you throw wine barrels into the sea, it will swallow them and then dive into the sea.“
白話版：
這種海洋生物非常的巨大，頭頂有兩個噴水孔，噴水時就像是兩條掛在天空上的河流一樣壯觀。
當船隻靠近時，牠會噴出大量的海水讓船沈沒。
有經驗的水手，會把用來裝酒的大木桶丟入海裡，當牠吞下幾個後，就會潛入海中消失無蹤。
人們會在淺灘捕獲這種動物，熬製成重達數千斤的油。
