原文：「駱駝鳥，諸禽中之最大者。形如鵞，其首高如乘馬之人，走時張翼，狀如棚，其行之疾如馬，或謂其腹甚熱，能化生鐵。」

“This animal is the world’s largest bird. Its body is shaped like a goose, and stands at a height level with a human on horseback. Its speed is on par with that of a horse, and its wings make it look like a tent when opened. It was believed that its stomach was hot enough to melt steel.“

這種動物是世上最大的鳥類。牠的身形像鵝，當牠抬起頭時，高度如有人在馬背上那樣高。牠奔跑的時後會拍動翅膀，跟馬一樣快速。外觀看起來就像帳篷。謠傳牠的肚子裡非常炙熱，熱到足以融化生鐵。（古名：駱駝鳥）

現代版：「鴕鳥」，古代稱「駱駝鳥」。鴕鳥沒有牙齒，所以常會吞食一些小石子幫助消化，因而被誤解為肚子可以融化像鐵一樣堅硬的東西。
The ostrich does not have any teeth, so it will swallow small stones to help with digestion, leading to the misconception that it could melt objects as hard as steel in its belly.
