The short height of this painting suggests it was originally part of a screen decoration at the imperial court later remounted into its current format as a hanging scroll. The contents depict a group of ten ladies in the women's quarters of the inner court seated around the sides of a large rectangular table. Some drink tea while others enjoy a drinking game.
