【加拿大交通部(Transport Canada)敦促行經卡伯特海峽(Cabot Strait)船隻落實減速，以保護瀕臨絕種的北大西洋露脊鯨 (North Atlantic right… 更多 whale)，本項措施自2020年開始實施並採自願方式，經研究顯示當船隻降速至10節以下，將可使碰撞致死率降低86%。但相關團體表示兩年來皆有一半以上的船隻未能遵守速限，並呼籲加拿大交通部在特定季節以強制方式辦理減速措施，然而，該海峽為大西洋通往聖羅倫斯灣及蒙特婁之重要航線，當局表示強制限速將會對部分航商產生衝擊，該區天候有時亦相當惡劣，如強迫船隻減速將會陷船員於危險之中。(北大西洋露脊鯨目前僅剩下360頭以下，於2017至2020年間已知有21頭死亡)】
