Tofu cheese, which tastes both of beans and taro, has been developed by Tongluo Township, a place well- known for taro. Local Miaoli taro is processed and ground soybeans are added to the taro. The development of the prodcut is to increase the income and competitiveness of local farmers, and to further unite the distinctive products of Miaoli and Hakka culture so as to promote Hakka culture. A new taste in Hakka cuisine has also been created.
