桂花小舖起源於921後，大茅埔的客家媽媽為了幫助家計，結合社區的外籍配偶，選擇她們最熟悉的桂花作為題材，以有機方式種下2000… 更多 株桂樹，並以手工製作桂花蜜、桂花醋等等桂花創意食品伴手禮。桂花在大茅埔的客家人心中象徵富貴，早年客家人外出經商時，總不忘要摘下一段桂花枝葉隨身，期望帶來「桂」氣盈門、富「桂」連連的好運！
To earn a livelihood in the aftermath of the 921 Earthquake, a group of Hakka mothers in Damaopu--- partnered with the foreign brides in the neighborhood---founded the Osmanthus Shop to make products from their familiar Osmanthus flowers. Using organic farming methods, the shop planted 2,000 Golden Osmanthus trees and produced handmade, original souvenirs such as Osmanthus honey and vinegar. Back in the earlier days, a Hakka businessman on his trip would always carry around a blossoming twig of Osmanthus---a symbol of prosperity in the Hakka community of Damaopu---as a lucky charm.
