Meinong is a simple Hakka township in southern Taiwan, surrounded by mountains on three sides, enjoying a warm climate, and drawing water from Laonong River for irrigation. The soil there is rich in organic and mineral content, and is considered an important granary for the Kaohsiung area. All of this rice is grown with care by descendents of the original farmers who have returned to the countryside from the city. They abide by organic production methods, not using pesticide or fertilizer, relying on good land and water and loving care instead. Its soft, chewy texture and rich rice aroma give full expression to the characteristics of rice.
