【Video】Emerald(fěicuì/翡翠) in the forest(sēnlín/森林) - The first Green building(jiànzhù/建築) library(túshūguǎn/圖書館)
Kaneshiro Takeshi's 2003 movie(diànyǐng/電影) "Turn Left Turn Right" turned Beitou Park in Taipei… 更多 into a tourist hot spot(lǚyóushèngdì/旅遊勝地) virtually overnight. Hidden inside you will find the emerald of the park – the Beitou Public Library. Looking somewhat like a wooden(mùzhì/木製) boat, or a tree house from some angles, the library was the first green building in Taiwan to qualify for a diamond(zuànshí/鑽石) rating under the EEWH certification system. The stunning(jīngyàn/驚艷) ceramic walls on the first and second floors are made of recycled(huíshōu/回收) materials from ceramics(táocí/陶瓷) factories in Yingge. Many of the books in the library collection(shōucáng/收藏) deal with the ecology(shēngtài), which is the library theme.
