文徵明詩文書畫並佳，畫師沈周，為明四大家之一。嘉靖癸巳畫家年六十四，應朋友之索，成此「花卉」冊。本幅為第五幅，淡墨勾畫花瓣，沒骨點染荷葉，復以重墨勁筆鉤畫葉的筋脈，蓮葉鮮翠的精神立顯。全圖下筆在有意無意之間，但物象意趣自來。
A native of Ch'ang-chou (modern Soochow), Wen Cheng-ming excelled at poetry, painting, and calligraphy. He learned painting from Shen Chou and was one of the Four Masters of the Ming.
