This album dates from the “guisi” year of the Jiajing reign (1533), in the summer of which Wen Zhengming had gone to Lake Dongting to escape the heat. Xu Jin, a Presented… 更多 Scholar of 1505, invited Wen to his house and they had a pleasant conversation, inspiring Wen to take up the brush and paint, using various beautiful flowers seen outside as his subject.
