英國的國家物理實驗室（NPL）做出了全世界最小的耶誕卡，長寬只有 15 x 20 微米（百萬分之一公尺），比一般郵票小了 2 億倍，比上個記錄保持者還小了十倍。

這個「聖誕樹」是幹細胞的顯微照片，圖中的綠色環狀的是膠原蛋白(collagen cell)，紅點則是脂肪細胞(fat cell)，都是從人體的骨髓萃取出來，再經過染色以顯現細節。
　　
作者是英國南漢普敦大學的博士生Catarina Moura，她研究如何用雷射影像技術監測細胞生長狀態，這對再生醫學領域相當有幫助。
